Curtain Walling

From £POA

Curtain walling defines the face of a modern commercial building — a continuous glazed envelope that floods interiors with light while protecting against wind, water and heat loss. Lord Glazing designs, supplies and installs aluminium curtain walling and facade glazing for offices, mixed-use developments, schools and healthcare buildings across London. Whether you are constructing a new facade, reglazing an ageing curtain wall or upgrading thermal performance, our specialists deliver a watertight, high-performance result. Backed by 15+ years' experience, 5,000+ projects and a 4.9-star reputation, we are a dependable partner for facade work of every scale.

Why choose curtain walling for your London business

A well-engineered curtain wall delivers striking architecture alongside genuine performance. It carries no floor load — the structure behind it does — so it can span large elevations with slim sightlines and expansive glass. Thermally broken aluminium framing and high-specification insulated units dramatically reduce energy use and help buildings meet today's stringent Building Regulations for thermal efficiency and, where applicable, fire safety. Modern systems also manage solar gain, glare and acoustics, creating comfortable, productive interiors. Every system we install is fabricated and fitted to relevant BS EN standards.

As a GGF member, TrustMark approved, Checkatrade verified and fully insured contractor, we provide the documentation and assurance that developers, architects and building owners require.

Key benefits

  • Abundant natural light — full-height glazing transforms interiors and tenant appeal.

Our process / installation

Curtain walling is an engineered system, so we begin with a detailed survey and design coordination with your architect or main contractor. We confirm structural fixings, thermal targets and visual finishes, then fabricate the framing and glass to exact tolerances. On site, our experienced installers set out, fix and seal each section, install the glazing and complete the weather-tight detailing. Throughout, we coordinate closely with other trades and programme works to suit the build, including phased and out-of-hours installation where occupied buildings demand it.

Sectors we serve

We deliver facade glazing for commercial offices and headquarters buildings, large retail and mixed-use developments, schools, colleges and universities, hospitals and healthcare facilities, and hospitality venues including restaurants and hotels. Each system is specified for the building's thermal, acoustic and fire requirements.

Curtain walling across London

Lord Glazing works across all 33 London boroughs. From landmark towers in the City, Canary Wharf and Stratford to commercial schemes in Croydon, Brent, Newham, Hounslow and Barnet, our facade team brings engineering rigour and a meticulous finish to projects throughout the capital. London facades face demanding wind loads, dense urban access constraints and exacting planning and conservation requirements, and our experience across the city means we anticipate these challenges and plan logistics, craneage and weather-tight detailing accordingly.

Refurbishment & recladding

Not every facade project is new-build. Many London buildings have ageing curtain walls with failed insulated glass units, tired seals, condensation between panes or poor thermal performance that no longer meets modern expectations. We specialise in sensitive refurbishment — replacing misted or broken units, renewing gaskets and weather seals, upgrading to high-performance low-E glass, and, where appropriate, overcladding to transform both the look and the energy rating of an existing building. This extends the life of the facade, improves tenant comfort and supports sustainability and net-zero objectives, often at a fraction of the cost and disruption of full replacement, with works phased to keep the building occupied.

Pricing guide

Curtain walling is priced on application (POA) because every facade is bespoke — cost depends on elevation size, system type, glass specification, structural complexity and access. We provide a detailed, transparent quotation following survey and design. Free quotes are available for all enquiries. For complementary works, see our commercial windows and fire-rated glass, or contact us to start your project.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between stick and unitised curtain walling?

Stick systems are assembled piece by piece on site, offering flexibility on irregular elevations. Unitised systems arrive as pre-built panels, enabling faster, higher-quality installation on taller buildings. We advise on the best fit for your project.

Can you reglaze or upgrade an existing curtain wall?

Yes. We replace failed glass units, upgrade to thermally efficient low-E glazing and refurbish seals and framing to extend the life and performance of existing facades.

Is curtain walling energy efficient?

Modern thermally broken systems with insulated low-E units perform very well, significantly reducing heat loss and solar gain compared with older single-glazed facades.

Do you coordinate with our main contractor and architect?

We do. We work within the construction programme, coordinate fixings and interfaces with other trades, and provide the technical and compliance documentation required.

How long does a curtain wall guarantee last?

Our installations are backed by a 10-year guarantee and we are fully insured, with system manufacturers offering additional warranties on framing and glass.
